Blood Pathology
Gemini Medical offers a wide range of blood pathology testing. Comprehensive blood testing can be especially useful if a candidate is to be employed at an underground or remote location, or if the candidate will be based overseas.
Fasting Blood Glucose | Fasting Blood Glucose (FBG) testing gives an indication of the amount of sugar in the bloodstream. The result of this test can indicate conditions such as diabetes or hypoglycemia (low blood sugar which can potentially lead to a coma) |
Fasting Blood Cholesterol | This test measures fats present in the bloodstream, and can be an indicator of heart disease. The fasting component is necessary as it gives a more accurate result than a random test, as fasting eliminates level fluctuations present after eating and during digestion. |
Blood Lead Testing | Abnormal levels of lead in the blood can be toxic. This test indicates the level of lead present in the blood stream. Blood lead testing can be an essential indicator of whether a candidate is suitable for employment in an environment where lead exposure has been, or may be, a factor. |
MBA 20 | This is a comprehensive test which indicates how the liver is functioning, protein status, iron, blood glucose and cholesterol status. This test is often a component of a pre-employment medical for candidates who will be travelling, or are based, at overseas sites. |
Full Blood Picture | A comprehensive test that gives a full overview of blood analysis which relates to the functioning of the body as a whole, including White Blood Cell Count (which can be an indicator of inflammation) and Red Blood Cell Count. |
Blood Group | Having reference to a candidate's blood type can be invaluable for employees based in remote or overseas sites. |
HIV testing | This test can be essential for candidates who will be based overseas, or if overseas travel will be involved. HIV testing is often a requirement for overseas visa applications. |
Hepatitis A, B & C | Testing for Hepatitis can be a requirement for overseas visa applications, and may be a requirement for candidates who will either travel, or be based, overseas. |
