Corporate Swine Flu Vaccination Program
For the past 6 years, Gemini Medical has been coordinating the onsite administration of flu vaccines to corporate clients in the Perth Metropolitan area. Gemini are now extending this program to include the administration of the governments free swine (H1N1) Flu vaccine currently being distributed around Australia.
What is the Swine Flu?
While swine flu has been diagnosed in humans before, most commonly in those who have had direct contact with pigs, the flu virus causing the present outbreak is a new strain. It is known as Swine Influenza A, H1N1 strain.
Most people will experience only mild to moderate symptoms from the H1N1 virus. People with pre-existing medical conditions are more likely to experience severe complications and the vaccine can prevent these from developing.
The most common symptoms of swine flu in people are:
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Cough
- Stuffy nose
- Chills
- Headaches and body aches
- Fatigue
The Vaccine
The vaccine being used is the government issued Panavax vaccine. Panavax H1N1 vaccine provides protection against this new strain of influenza (Human Swine Flu). Side affects can include:
- Pain and redness at the injection site
- Drowsiness or tiredness
- Muscle Aches
- Low grade fever
All side affects are usually mild and short lasting.
