TIP Handwash Hygiene
How to stay well this winter:
Autumn and winter are traditionally the time of year where many people get colds and flus. You can vaccinate against the flu but how do you prevent the spread of those other nasties such as colds and stomach bugs?
The best way to avoid getting sick and reducing the risk of these infections from occurring is through practicing good hygiene techniques.
Good personal hygiene at work includes
- Regularly washing hands with soap and water for at least 15 seconds after visiting the toilet, before preparing food as well as before and after eating. Dry hands with disposable paper towels. Download our poster on tips for handwashing steps
- Try to reduce hand to mouth exposure for example, avoid biting nails
- All cuts and abrasions should be covered with a sterile waterproof dressing
- Do not share personal items such as towels at work
- Take advantage of your workplace vaccination program
