Application Process

The typical steps an international doctor needs to take for working in Australia are outlined below:

• Register with Gemini Medical 
• Apply to the relevant State/Territory Medical Board or Council for medical registration (link to medical board registration page).
• Contact the relevant state Rural Workforce agency http://www.rhwa.org.au/ (independent government organisation offering support to Doctors working in rural settings across Australia).
• Apply for a visa and pass the required character, police and medical checks.
• Identify a practice that meets your individual needs and begin discussions with them.
• Obtain Medical Indemnity cover in Australia.
• Obtain a Medicare Provider Number in Australia.
