Living in Tasmania

Hiking in Tasmania
When you think of Tasmania, imagine sweeping views of majestic mountains, beautiful beaches, untouched rainforests and waterside cafes brimming with diverse local produce - all wrapped up in a relaxed island lifestyle.
The Tasmanian way of life is a truly Australian blend of both outdoor and indoor living. Fishing, beach walks and hiking are popular activities to enjoy all year round. The magical surrounds of Cradle Mountain, the pristine shore of Wineglass Bay and the dynamic wildlife of Lavinia Nature Reserve are just a few of Tasmania's many natural landmarks.
Venture indoors and you will find a vibrant hub of cultural activity including live theatre, museums, commerical galleries and one of the world's best small orchestras.

Hobart Harbour
Located 240km south of the mainland of Australia, Tasmania is a quick 1 hour flight from Melbourne. The capital city, and main centre of Tasmania, is Hobart. The island enjoys average temperatures of 21 degrees C in the summer with the winter average being 12 degrees C.
The climate of mild summers and long, clear autumn days makes for an abundant wine industry. Tasmania is well known (and awarded!) for its locally-made red and white wines. In fact, local produce is another of the main attractions of the island - beef and seafood feature on local menus, or you can sample some of the deliciously rich King Island cheeses, creams and butters.
